Internet access amongst farmers has been steadily increasing over recent years. The Agridata 2007 survey shows that 69% of all farmers now have access to the Internet (1) with 60% of these accessing the internet once a week or more (2)
The larger farms, which account for the majority of farm expenditure, have been those which have been more likely to exploit the benefits that the Internet can bring to running their farm businesses.
Internet access amongst farms with 100+ Ha Crops and Grass stands at 79%, whilst 83% of those with 200+ Ha Crops and Grass have Internet access.
The latest research shows that over 30% of all farmers now use agricultural websites as a regular source of information and they are seen as more useful than many traditional information sources including radio, agricultural directories, agricultural conferences/seminars and agricultural shows.
