Farms and Farm Workers

Since 1993, the total number of farms has decreased from 117137 to 100743 in 2005, which is a 14% decrease*.

Since 1999, the number of full time farmers, partners, directors and spouses have decreased from 177,300 to 156,000 in 2004, a 12% decrease.**

Over the same period, the number of full time farmers salaried managers and workers have decreased from 285,200 to 239,000, a 16.2% decrease.**

Machinery Sales

Since 1993, tractor Registrations has fallen from 17899 to 14955 in 2004. Even though this is an overall fall of 16%, registrations have been on the rise since 1998.
